The following letter has been group called to parents and carers regarding uniform.  Pupils will be attending assemblies this week for a reminder of the expecations around uniform.

Dear Parents/Carers,
We would like to take this opportunity at the start of our new term, to wish all of our school community a happy, healthy and prosperous 2020. We are very much looking forward to welcoming our young people back for a full and exciting term of learning.
As our students return, it is vital to our school ethos and culture that they are all in full school uniform and we invite our parents to support us. Our school uniform has been agreed with our Parent Council and Pupil Parliament and reflects our commitment to providing a dress code that is affordable, comfortable and practical for all. For full details of our dress code you can see our school app in the School Handbook section.
For us, school uniform is not just about the clothes that pupils wear: it is a symbol of belonging to our school community. When a pupil wears correct uniform it demonstrates respect and pride, and shows that young people really want to engage and be involved. It also allows us, as a school, to minimise the impact of social and economic factors for our students – when everyone is in uniform we are all the same; there is no pressure to wear expensive designer labels or fashion garments. It means that all of our students can focus on what really matters – their learning.
Faculty Heads and Pupil Support staff will be addressing uniform with pupils in House Assemblies and will be contacting home if there are any issues. If any family is experiencing financial difficulty around providing uniform for their child, we would invite them to contact us directly by phone or through our website email contact. We are keen for this to be a positive step for our school and we know the impact that a unified and consistent approach to our uniform standard can make.
If there are any questions, queries or concerns about our uniform policy, we would ask that parents contact us directly to discuss this.
Yours sincerely,
Lornshill Leadership Team
