Today, Higher and Advanced Higher Modern Studies students went to Alloa Sheriff Court to observe sentencing trials. We observed around a dozen cases varying in content from drug crimes to domestic abuse. It was an interesting experience as it was insight to how the court was run. After the trials we had the opportunity to speak to Sheriff Mackie, who explained his role in the different courts he runs within civil and criminal law. We look forward to using our experience to help us in the classroom.
